What Is ICB National Diploma?
ICB national diplomas are the last level in ICB courses. They are equal to NQF Level 6 and are SAQA-registered. Since it is the advanced level, it teaches you all the scarce skills in the programme and takes up to three years to complete.

No, you must register with an ICB training provider to study ICB courses. So even though you will register to become an ICB student, you must choose an institution to study with. Your college will provide you with:

Face-to-face students will have their administrative duties managed by their college. This includes registration and entering an ICB exam.
No, you need a bachelor’s pass to study at a university. So if you passed matric, and meet the entry requirements, you can study at a university.

No, you cannot turn your diploma into a degree. However, you can turn your national diploma into an advanced diploma. You can study further with:
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
To qualify, you need to have your Financial Accounting NQF Level 6 National Diploma. You can also qualify for up to six exemptions to kick-start your studies.
An accounting diploma course can take up to three years to complete. If you study accounting part-time, your studies might be longer in duration.
To pass your ICB course, you must meet the following pass requirements:
- Get at least 60% overall as an overall mark.
- Obtain a minimum of 50% in your exam.
There are no minimum requirements to pass your digital portfolio of evidence (PoE). But you must ensure that you pass your assignment and tests. You will use your assignment and study material to prepare for your final exam.
You have the option to rewrite your exam. Ensure that you re-register for your exam within the same calendar year. If not, you will need to complete a new PoE.
Both the paper and online exams are three and a half hours long. You must ensure that you get to the exam venue early if you are writing the paper exam. Students writing the online exam must log in ahead of time to complete technical checks.
