Accreditation

What is an Accredited Course?

Accreditation and Registration

When you choose to start studying a course, it is important to know that you are signed up with a reputable college. You will need to be registered with a college that has been through the accreditation process so that your potential employers will recognise your qualification and know that you can bring something to the table when you join their team.

When a training institution is inspected for its accreditation, the accrediting body looks at the ability of the training institution to successfully offer the course for which they are being accredited. This means they look at the structures, venues, study materials, financial health, tax status and BEE status as part of the accrediting process.

Skills Academy has passed these and all the other accreditation requirements in full.

Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) Registration

The Further Education and Training Colleges Act (Act 16 of 2006) says that providers of education must register with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), if they intend to offer National Qualifications (qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework) that have an NQF Level of 2, 3 or 4.

Skills Academy has applied for registration, and we are awaiting the outcome from the DHET. We have received acknowledgement from the DHET that they have received our application.

We Are Listed on the DHET List of Private Education Institution that have Lodged Application to be Registered with DHET

The first step in getting Registered with the DHET, was when we applied in 2007. We then received our letter acknowledging that we applied. That letter is here.

In April 2018 the DHET issued a List of Private Education Institution that have Lodged Application to be Registered with DHET. You can find us on that list here. Look for us under “Home Study Group (Pty) Ltd”, which is the formal company name in which Skills Academy lives.
