An ICB bridging course is a short, non-accredited programme designed for students who don’t meet the entry requirements for formal ICB qualifications. It is ideal for those who have Grade 9 or lower, or who’ve been out of school for some time.
This course helps you build foundational academic and study skills, giving you the confidence to begin with the NQF Level 3 National Certificate in Bookkeeping or other ICB pathways. It acts as a stepping stone into accredited, recognised business and accounting qualifications.
Yes, ICB is a good qualification. It’s officially accredited by the QCTO, registered with SAQA, and recognised across South Africa. ICB courses are designed to be practical and career-focused, making them ideal for students who want to enter the fields of bookkeeping, financial accounting, business management, or office administration.
Because it allows you to start with Grade 10 and progress up to NQF Level 6, ICB is especially valuable for those who didn’t complete Matric but still want access to recognised qualifications. It’s respected by employers and can also open doors to further studies.
Yes, you can study ICB without Matric. ICB qualifications start at NQF Level 3, which only requires Grade 10 or an equivalent. This makes it accessible for students who didn’t complete Matric but still want to earn a recognised qualification.
You can start with the National Certificate: Bookkeeping, then progress through higher levels up to an NQF Level 6 National Diploma—without ever needing to go back and get your Matric.
