How Can I Postpone My ICB Exam?
Postponing your ICB exam is a very simple process. But before you get started, you should know that there are two different types of postponements. It is important to know the difference so that you do not run into any issues.
- Voluntary postponement
- Mitigating (no charge) postponement
Voluntary Postponement
If you are not ready to write your exam yet, you can write on a different date. Do not worry, there is no need to tell ICB about your pre-exam jitters. All you have to do is postpone through the ICB student portal under the ‘my exams’ tab. Make sure to pay attention to the postponement due dates on your ICB 2023 exam timetable. In 2023, postponing your exam will cost R330 per subject.
Mitigating (No Charge) Postponement
A mitigating postponement is when circumstances are out of your control and you cannot write on the day you booked. This includes illness, the death of an immediate family member or loadshedding issues. If you have sufficient proof, you will not have to pay a fee.
Please note: Classroom-based students have to postpone their exams through their college, not via ICB’s online system.
How Do ICB Online Exams Work?
You can write your ICB online exams via MACCI from home, at work, or at your college. Their structure is no different from the paper exams and they will be marked the same. The exam layout will include:

- Long questions
Please note: Before you write the online exam, you must make sure the computer you will be using meets the technical requirements. You must do two technical checks before exam day.

If you run into any issues on exam day, you can contact ICB via MACCI Chat. This is an online chat box that will only be available during the exams.
