Excited to write your assessment? Well unexpected issues can happen at any time, stopping you from putting pen to paper. So your best option is to request a no charge ICB postponement. You’ll be able to handle all your affairs and write your ICB exam when you’re ready.

What is a No Charge Postponement?
This is also known as a mitigating postponement. When you are unable to write your exam, you can postpone your exam and write at a later date. But since you are postponing for reasons beyond your control, you won’t need to pay a fee.
How to Request a no Charge ICB Postponement
Ready to request a no charge ICB postponement? Well there’s no need to stress. It’s not as difficult as it might seem. Remember that the ICB will not accept any mitigating postponements via email. But you can follow these easy steps below. To apply, you need to:
- Complete an online application form
- Wait for an email with confirmation of receipt of the online application
When to Request a no Charge ICB Postponement
Don’t wait until the last minute to apply. You need to request a no charge postponement within 48 hours after the exam. And ensure you understand section 13 on mitigating postponements in the assessment policy. Some mitigating circumstances include:
- Serious illness or medical condition
- Illness related to pregnancy
- Hospitalisation
- Cannot enter exam room due to incomplete PoE
- Unable to enter exam due to loadshedding or power failures
Criteria to Qualify for a Mitigating Postponement
Okay, so a serious medical illness counts as a mitigating circumstance. But if you’re not the one who’s sick, you might not qualify. So when you apply, your application needs to meet the criteria. You qualify if the circumstance:
- Is out of your control
- Will affect your performance in the exam
- Coincides with the date of your exam (or in the week before your exam but might still affect your performance)
Keep in mind: The ICB has the right to request proof of this mitigating circumstance. This should be included in your application. Also, this proof needs to be written in English.
Requesting a no Charge Postponement More Than Once
Some unforeseen circumstances can pop up more than once. So you can request a no charge ICB postponement again. But the ICB has the right to continue to accept or reject your application. They might even ask you to apply for disability arrangements. Thereafter, future mitigating postponements might not be accepted.
