Are There Any Changes To The ICB Exam Timetable?
There are a few important changes to take note of:
- All subjects are available to write online as well as on paper.
- For distance learners, there are fewer in-person exam venues.
- There are more online exam dates.
- Due to loadshedding, you can begin your online exam anytime between 9 am and 1 pm.

Registration for the 2023 ICB exams opened in December 2022 and will close on the following dates:

Where Will I Write My ICB Exams in 2023?
As we said before, there are fewer physical exam venues available for distance-learning students. You can now only write at ICB-approved main centres. In 2023 this includes:

- Goodwood Sports Club
- IBTC Sandton
- Akasia Country Club
- Benoni Central Methodist Church
- Damelin – East London
Please note: To keep students and providers safe, ICB is still following Covid-19 restrictions. This means that there are fewer seats in the venues. So if you want to write the paper exams, you should book your spot asap.

How Can I Book An ICB Exam?
You can book your ICB exam online via the student portal by following these simple steps:
- Log in to the student portal.
- On the left side of the screen, click ‘enter assessment’.
- Select the subject you want to book for.
- Choose your preferred exam venue.
- Click on ‘search for available assessment dates’.
- Pick one of the dates for your exam.
- Click ‘add to basket’.
- Check the contents of your basket.
- If everything looks correct, click ‘checkout’.
- Submit the exam booking by clicking ‘next step’.
- Pay the exam fees.
What Are The 2023 ICB Exam Fees?
Here are all the current fees related to your exams. As you will see, each exam booking costs R785. Depending on your circumstances, there could be a few extra fees you have to pay.

How Long Is The ICB Exam?
Each ICB exam is three hours long. There is also an extra 30 minutes set aside for set-up.
Can I Postpone My ICB Exam?
Yes you can postpone your ICB exam via the student portal. There are two types of postponements:
- Voluntary postponements – If you are not feeling ready to write yet.
- Involuntary or mitigating circumstances postponement – This is for when things are out of your control, and you cannot write, e.g. death in the family or illness.
Can You Switch Between Paper-Based and Online Exams?
Yes you can switch from paper-based and online exams. Also, all your exams do not have to be one or the other, each exam you write can be a different type.
How Do I Qualify To Write The 2023 ICB Exams?
As soon as you pay your annual registration fee and book an exam, you will have access to your portfolio of evidence (PoE). You must ensure that you complete this PoE before the deadline. If it is not submitted, you will not be allowed to write your final exam.
What Is A Portfolio of Evidence?
A portfolio of evidence is a collection of all the tests and assignments you do throughout the course. You must complete it using Google Chrome. Your PoE is available on the MACCI portal and includes:
- Admin activities
- Practice questions
- ID verification
- Three assignments
- 2 tests
- Exam prep
- The final exam
Please note: You must tick off the ICB PoE checklist before the due date. You will be excluded from the final exam if every task is not ticked off.
How Do ICB Online Exams Work?
ICB online exams work the same as paper-based exams. The only difference is that one is written using pen and paper, and the other with a computer. The structure is the same too. It is made up of:
- Multiple choice
- True or false
- Long questions
- Fill in the gap
Your online exam will be invigilated using special software to track your eye movements, facial recognition and any strange activity on your computer.
How Must I Contact ICB During The Online Exam?
If you experience an issue during the online exam, you can type a message through the chatbot available on Macci. There will be a support team to assist you asap.
When Will I Receive My ICB Exam Results?
This all depends on the month when you wrote the exam. It takes around seven weeks for results to come out. Check out the table below to see the exact dates:

What Is The Pass Mark For ICB Exams?
To pass, you must receive a mark of at least 50% in your final exams.
