In the last five years, more than 25 000 students have successfully graduated from ICB Courses in South Africa. They offer respected qualifications worldwide, so it is no surprise that the ICB Pass Rate is this high. Let us explore the factors that go into calculating the marks that allow you to receive your accredited qualification.
How Are ICB Marks Calculated?
There are three learning phases, each with tests and assignments you must complete. This makes up 30% of your final mark. The other 70% comes from your final exam.
What Is The Pass Mark For ICB?
You must achieve a pass mark of at least 60%. This is made up of your PoE and final exam combined.
Is 70% A Passing Score?
Yes, with the current ICB pass rate in place, 70% is a passing score. ICB uses a percentage system to mark your work. This means that you get marks for each correct answer in a section, and then this is converted to a percentage. If you receive a score of 90% and above, ICB will congratulate you on their public platforms.
When Will I Receive My ICB Exam Results?
There are different release dates for your ICB exams. This all depends on which month you wrote. It takes ICB about seven weeks to mark your work and check that your results are accurate. We have provided exact release dates in the table below:

What Are PoE Completion Dates?
These are the dates when your entire PoE must be submitted. If you miss this deadline, you will not be allowed to write your exam.
What Is ICB MACCI?
MACCI is the online platform you must use to complete your portfolio of evidence.
How Do ICB Online Exams Work?
If you choose to write your final exam online, you will do so using the MACCI platform. Due to loadshedding, you can start your online exam at any time between 9 am and 1 pm. Keep in mind that the exam will automatically close at 4:30 pm.
Important note: Before exam day, you must ensure that your PC meets the technical requirements.
How Must I Contact ICB During The Online Exam?
If you experience any trouble on exam day, you can contact ICB’s support team via Macci. There will be a chat box available only during your exam. You can find it in the bottom right corner of the page. When you report a problem, add the same email address that appears on your student profile so you can be confirmed as a registered student.
How Long Are ICB Exams?
ICB exams are three hours long. But there is an extra 30 minutes put aside for set-up. You can expect to spend a total of three hours and thirty minutes at your exam venue.
How Can I Pass ICB Exams?
The best way to pass your ICB exam is to complete your Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) on time and study hard. If you are struggling to understand your coursework, you can ask your tutor or lecturer for help. Here at Skills Academy, we have a highly qualified student support department to help you pass your course.
Are There ICB Past Papers?
No, there are no ICB past papers. We know sometimes they offer many benefits for students. But since ICB changes their course content every year, it means past papers would not be of much help to students. If you come across anyone trying to sell you past papers online, ICB encourages you to report them. Your information will stay confidential.
What Should I Do If I Did Not Pass My ICB Exam?
Do not panic if you do not pass your ICB exam. It is not the end of your study journey. There are two options available. You can:
- Rewrite your exam
- Apply for a re-mark
Rewrite
If you rewrite a subject, you have to book the exam the same way you did the first time around. If the rewrite is in the same academic year, you will not have to complete a brand new PoE.
Apply for a Re-Mark
After receiving your results, there is a one-month window to apply for a re-mark. Before you go ahead with the application, make sure you understand the ICB exam policy.
