ICB training providers are a great way to get the support you need to pass your course. The college you enrol with can set the foundation for a successful study journey.
What Are The Benefits Of ICB Training Providers?
ICB training providers are all accredited and registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This is already a great starting point, because you can be certain that the skills you are gaining meet national standards. Other benefits include:
- Get Help With Exam Preparation
- Get Access To Up-To-Date Study Material
- Study Groups
- Student Support Services
- A Graduation Ceremony
Get Help With Exam Preparation
Pass your exams with flying colours when you get the help you need from ICB training providers. The college you join will have highly qualified tutors and lecturers to make sure that you understand the content of your coursework.
Get Access To Up-To-Date Study Material
ICB updates their coursework every year to ensure that students are only learning the latest information in their field. Students who self-study, tend to rely on second-hand study material, which means that their information is out-of-date. When you study with a training provider, they will make sure that you are on the right track with current content.
Study Groups
It is always helpful to build a community of your peers to help you along your study journey. But it can be difficult to meet these people on your own. At Skills Academy, an accredited ICB training provider, you will have access to a free online study group called Together We Pass. Here you will be put in touch with students who are studying the same course as you, and you will be able to help each other do assignments and study for tests and exams together.
Student Support Services
Sometimes, the course you study comes with admin tasks you have to complete. Or sometimes you just need a break from your studies to focus on your other responsibilities. Whatever your study-related needs, student support services can help you out. Even if they cannot make decisions on your behalf, they can offer helpful advice on what your next move should be.
A Graduation Ceremony
Finishing your course is a big deal! And a graduation ceremony is one of the best ways to celebrate with your family and friends. Your college will make sure you have the best celebration to mark your special achievement.
How Do I Choose An ICB Training Provider?
Before you decide on a college, there are a few very important aspects to consider that could make or break your study experience. These include:
- Your location
- Consider your responsibilities
- Check their reputation
Choose Your Location
If you are planning to study as a classroom-based student, where you live is very important. If the college you are considering is far away from home, you will have to spend a lot of time and money travelling or finding student accommodation. The good news is that with distance learning, quality education comes to you.
Consider Your Responsibilities
This will determine how much time you have to spend on your studies. If you have a full-time job and a family to take care of, you might want to consider part-time studies. Luckily, ICB training providers are diverse enough to offer you many options. So you can study with them:
- Part-time
- Full-time
- Via distance learning
Check Their Reputation
Before you enrol at a college, you have to check their reputation and make sure they are legitimate. The best way to do this is to ask them for their accreditation number, and check reviews on sites such as Google and HelloPeter. Here you will be able to see if the institution can be trusted and if students are happy with their services.
How Do I Know If A Training Provider Is Accredited In South Africa?
We know there are many scam colleges out there that pretend to have accredited qualifications. It is unfortunate, but to prevent yourself from being the victim of such a scam, there are a few things you can check. These include:
- Ask For Accreditation Details
- Umalusi
- South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
- Quality Council For Trades And Occupations (QCTO)
Ask For Accreditation Details
If the institution you want to study at says they are accredited, they should have an accreditation number. For example, our ICB accreditation number is 300830. So you can ask them what their number is and verify it online.
Umalusi
You can search for your private school or college on Umalusi’s website to see if it is accredited. Umalusi is a quality council whose aim is to make sure that education meets the standards set by the National Qualifications Framework.
South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
The great thing about SAQA is that you can go onto their website and check if an individual course is accredited. Each ICB course has a unique SAQA ID number you can search to verify the qualification.
Quality Council For Trades And Occupations (QCTO)
ICB is one of the quality assurance partners for the QCTO. So you can be sure that your course meets high standards. But if you are not sure about other trade-related courses, you can verify them via QCTO. But it is important to note that this process is only for future employers who want to check that your qualifications are valid.
Is ICB SETA Accredited?
Yes, ICB is SETA accredited. At the end of your course, you will receive a certificate from FASSET, which is the finance and accounting SETA.
