Who Qualifies for Adult Matric?

Our Adult Matric Course is offered to students who never had the chance to get their matric. Whether you dropped out of school or have incomplete matric results, this course is for you. So make sure you meet the admissions requirements to get started.

Entry Requirements for Adult Matric

To study with us, you need to be able to read, write and understand English. This is because all your course material and assessments will be in this language. Other requirements include:

  • Grade 9 certificate or higher; or
  • ABET level 4 qualification with two official SA languages; or
  • General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)
  • Be 21 years and older

Applying for Adult Matric at 19 Years old

Okay, we know we said you need to be 21 years older. But you can enrol in our Adult Matric Course as early as 19 years old. These are only special cases in which the student cannot complete matric at school. You will need to get approval from the provincial education department. 

Writing the Matric Exams at 21 Years old

Even if you enrol at 19, you need to be 21 years or older when you register for the May/June matric exam. So if the matric exam registration deadline is in March or April, you need to make sure that you turn 21 years old by then. 

Do I Need my School-Based Assessment Mark?

No you don’t. Your school-based assessment (SBA) marks are not part of your adult matric results. The matric exams make up 100% of your final mark. So even if your SBA is still valid, it will not be included. So make sure you study smart and get the marks you deserve.
