Now that you studied all day and night, it’s time to step into the exam room with confidence. But before you can take your seat, you need to get clued up on the ICB paper exam rules. Follow the right conduct while you put your knowledge to the test.
ICB Paper Exam Rules
The ICB prides itself in delivering quality education. Because of this, they have a set of rules students need to follow during the ICB exam. This includes paper exams you will write at your training providers’ college or ICB exam venue. To make sure you don’t step out of line, below you can take a look at the ICB paper exam rules:
Before the Exam
Before you can start writing, there are rules you need to follow. This will ensure that the paper exams run smoothly. At the venue, exam invigilators from our college or the ICB will help you get settled. Thereafter, you need to stick to the following rules:
Arriving at the Exam
You need to be at the exam venue 15 minutes before the exam starts. If you arrive up to 30 minutes late, you have to give a valid reason as to why you are late. Any students who arrive 30 minutes after the start of the exam will not be allowed to write.
Things you Need to Have With you
You can’t take any study notes, textbooks, guides, manuals, etc. into the exam venue, unless approved by the instructors. But this doesn’t mean you should pitch empty-handed. You should have:
- Your proof of identity to present to the invigilator
- A basic or scientific pocket calculator
- Black pen and pencil
Reading Through Exam Rules
Your paper exam is 3 ½ hours in duration, between 09:00 – 12:30. In the first 30 minutes, the invigilator will read through the rules. Make sure you listen closely to the do’s and don’ts. It will help you know what to do to avoid any misconduct.
During the Exam
In the exam, one wrong move could have you removed from the venue. So you need to make sure that you put your best foot forward. Take a look at the rules you need to follow during your ICB exam.
Exam Invigilator
An exam invigilator will make sure that all rules are followed. So you need to obey all the instructions they give to you. They will help you with all exam related issues. But if you need any help answering questions, you’ll need to rely on your own knowledge.
Leaving the Exam Room
During the exam, you need to stay in the venue. Or at least for the first 30 minutes. But if you find yourself needing to head outside, you need to ask for permission first. If granted, you can’t take any scripts with you.
Question Papers and Answer Books
One of the differences between paper and online exams is that you will write your answers in answer books. So you need to listen closely to the instructions. This will help you determine which books to use and questions to answer. In the exam, you should:
- Make use of a pencil for drawings like graphs and diagrams
- Include calculations in your answer book
- Calculations on a separate page should be inserted in your answer book (remember to add the question number to it)
After the Exam
“Times up” doesn’t mean write faster. When the invigilator tells you the exam is over, you need to set your pen down. If you continue, you will be reported and required to appear before the academic board. Other rules to follow include:
Collecting Question Papers and Answer Book
The invigilator will collect your question paper, answer book and ICB PoE. Once collected, you can leave the venue. If for any reason you don’t want your answer book to be submitted, write “no answer submitted” and it will not be marked.
Possession of Question Papers After the Exam
You cannot keep your question paper. This is because it can easily be distributed as an ICB past exam paper. Since the ICB does not permit past papers, you will get into trouble and face serious consequences.
Misconduct During Your Paper Exams
Remember we said you need to put your best foot forward? Well if you don’t follow the rules, you’ll step into the wrong direction. The invigilator has the right to report you to the academic board for any misconduct. So make sure you read the ICB policies. This will help you know what is permitted and what to avoid.
