Make a List of Goals
As a matric student, you probably have big plans for your future. Write them down and put it someplace where you’ll be able to see it every day. This way you’ll stay motivated to study hard throughout the year.
Be Aware of Important Deadlines
A lot of stress can be caused by uncertainty. While we don’t know the future, we can certainly prepare for it. This means finding out closing dates for university applications, exam registration, tests and exams. Having enough time to prepare will help you stay calm.
Create a Study Schedule
You should create a schedule that works for you, so that you don’t struggle to stick to it. This is not just for decorating your bedroom wall. A study schedule will help you divide your work into manageable sections, and avoid those dreaded all-nighters.
Get Advice
Confused about your post-matric plans? Get advice from student advisors, or even the web. If you plan on studying further, make sure you have the correct school subjects and meet all other requirements for your course.
Make Notes
Studying straight from a textbook can be overwhelming. Instead, make notes summarising the important work and study from there. Writing down the work will help you learn it. Don’t wait until exam season to do this. Start as soon as possible to avoid stress.
Take Care of Your Health
Adopting healthy habits will help you succeed. The last thing you want is to miss an exam because you got sick. While all illnesses aren’t preventable, you should try to get in all your vitamins and stay active to keep your immune system strong.
