What Changes Does the 2021 Academic Year Bring?
2020 proved to be the most challenging year for all students. The pandemic caused schools to shut down and pushed back the final exams. Many plans had to be put in place for the new year so students don’t fall behind.
Basic Education:
- Schools are expected to reopen on 15 February 2021 for learners instead of 27 January 2021 as previously announced.
- June holidays for 2021 have been shortened to two weeks instead of three.
Higher Education:
- The 2020 academic year for universities has been extended to the end of February 2021.
- Most universities are expected to start the new academic year in March or April 2021.
