What you need to know
Entrance Requirements
This course has an open entry policy therefore you won’t need matric to join this course. You will only need to know how to read and write in English as all subjects will be taught in English.
Accreditation
This course is a provider programme which means that you won’t receive a certificate from an accredited body, however you will get an award issued to you by Skills Academy.
Assessment Structure
In this course you won’t have any exams. You will only have a Portfolio Of Evidence (POE). Your POE will be made up of two or more assignments and subject tests. To pass this course you will need to achieve a minimum of 50% on all your assessments.

Anatomy and Physiology | This subject teaches you about the human body anatomy. You will learn about the various systems in the human body and each of their functions. This knowledge will help you in your career as a Facial Skincare Professional to better serve the customer. |
Professional Salon Skills | This chapter gives you a good introduction into the beauty industry and how to conduct yourself professionally in the salon environment. It will also talk about how to prepare for your consultation with a client, which is one of the most important elements you need to master as a beauty therapist. |
Facial Skincare Theory | This subject will give you a better understanding of skin before you move on to discussing facials in the following subject. The subject contains the following chapters: Anatomy of the skin, Skin type, Skin tones and Skin disorders. |
Excellence in Service: Basic | A big part of being a facial skincare professional has to do with interactions with customers. This subject prepares you for those service based interactions to improve your customer satisfaction and professionalism. |
Networking for Success | Getting started as a facial skincare professional requires a good amount of networking to market your business and service. This subject teaches you how to do that and as a result you will be able to build networking relationships and use various networking techniques and platforms. |
Entrepreneurship | If you are planning on starting your own business with your facial skincare skills, then this subject will teach you how. Entrepreneurship teaches you how to do a business plan and what goes into running a business. |
Facial Skincare Technique | In this subject we discuss preparing the treatment area, consulting with the client and then how to do various facials. After care advice is also important in any treatment. |
Financial Management: Basic | Managing your finance is key for any business. So this subject teaches you the key concept of the accounting cycle and finance management. |
Study Upgrade
Once you have completed all your subjects, you can then move onto your practical assessments which will then allow you to complete your course.
