Difference Between a Bookkeeper and Accountant
Bookkeepers and accountants are often seen as completing the same duties. But each job has its own set of duties and responsibilities. Although they might not be the same, they can work alongside each other. It is often said that an accountant’s work starts where a bookkeeper’s job ends off. Let’s take a closer look at the difference between a bookkeeper and accountant:
Bookkeeper
A bookkeeper records the daily financial transactions of a business. This includes their income such as sales, as well as expenses like payments and payroll. All finances need to be recorded by the bookkeeper to prepare ledgers for the accountant.
Accountant
An accountant analyses the data, financial statements and ledgers recorded by the bookkeeper. They use these to interpret and make predictions about the finances of a business. They also deal with tax, make financial decisions and create financial statements.
