The Covid-19 virus is part of the coronavirus family that made the jump from animals to humans in December 2019. It originated in the Chinese City of Wuhan. The virus causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious respiratory diseases.

What is Skills Academy Doing To Protect Staff and Students?

Skills Academy has launched a comprehensive plan, that not only serves to keep us open through the corona virus epidemic, but also keeps all our staff and students safe! Read all about our plan, and how we are keeping your studies safe.

How Does the Virus Spread?

The virus is spread mostly from person-to-person but can also be spread by coming into contact with contaminated surfaces. Find out more below.

Person-to-Person

People who are in close contact with each other can pass it along through respiratory droplets. This is produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or inhaled into the lungs.

Contact With Contaminated Surfaces

A person can get the Covid-19 virus by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touching their own mouth, nose or even their eyes. It’s important to try and remember to avoid touching your face if your hands are not clean.
