Are you anxiously waiting for your matric results? Well we have some good news for you. Umalusi has approved the release of the 2020 matric results. But before you get too excite, there are however a few roadblocks that you should be aware of.
Will Matrics get 5% Towards Their Final Marks?
The matric class of 2020, experienced one of the hardest matric years to date. You had to face challenges such as the global pandemic, schools being closed and exams being moved around. In early November of 2020, experts were talking about giving matriculants an extra 5% in three subjects, to help you pass the year. Unfortunately, you will not receive 5% towards your final mark.
Upward and Downward Matric Marks Explained
Understanding mark adjustments can sound complicated and confusing at first. But to simply put it, the Umalusi assessment standards committee, assesses the results of each subject on a five year basis. Once compiled, an average is worked out and they then decided if 10% should be added to your marks or deducted.
- Upward adjustment can’t be more than 10%
- Downward adjustment can’t be more than 10%
Learners That Won’t get Matric Results
By now you might have heard that there were exam papers leaked during the matric 2020 November finales. Although the matter is still under investigation, if you are suspected of or caught cheating, copying or suspected of fowl play, you will not receive your matric results.
Note: Contact your exam centre to find out if your marks will be released.
