Benefits of Creating a Daily Work Planner

Your work day is filled with many different tasks, including meetings, admin, and so much more. Your workplace skills will help you complete your duties. But a planner will leave you feeling as if you have your own personal assistant helping you get through the day. Listed below are the benefits of creating a planner:

  • Helps you stay organised
  • Manage your time well
  • Keep track of your work
  • Focus on important tasks first
  • Creates healthy habits
  • Reduces stress levels
  • Helps you reach daily goals

Tips on Creating a Daily Work Planner

Ever felt like you didn’t get enough done throughout the day? Dont stress, it happens to most of us. So if you want to stay productive and work efficiently, use our tips on creating a daily work planner.

Be Realistic

We know you want to complete a week’s work in one day. But you need to be realistic about what you can achieve. Include all the work you know you will be able to complete. If you take on more than you can handle, you risk missing deadlines or delivering poor quality work.

Notebook or Digital Planner?

Before you start, find out if a notebook or digital planner works for you. If you don’t want a planner on your phone, there are cute and affordable diaries you can buy. If not, a daily planner app works well too. Programs like Canva allow you to create, save and download custom planners.

Make a List of Your Duties

Now that you know which planner you’ll use, make a list of all your duties. Whether they are important tasks, or duties you would like to get a headstart on, make sure to note them all down. This to-do list prevents you from forgetting all the tasks you need to add to your planner.

Prioritise Your Work

Although you need to get all your work done, some projects are more important than others. So take a look at what takes priority. Move them up in your planner. Also, for deadlines just around the corner, make sure to add them to the top of your planner too.

Save Room for Flexibility

Emergencies and last minute projects can pop up at any time of the day. So be sure to create flexibility in your schedule. You’ll be able to squeeze them in without having to skip any of your other tasks.

Break up Your Work

Instead of looking at your day as a whole, group your duties together by breaking them up. You can split your work between morning or afternoon, or time block your projects. When you break up your work schedule, you’ll create easy to manage duties.

Set Goals

Try to avoid using deadlines to motivate you to do your work, but set goals instead. You can choose between daily, weekly, or monthly goals. This will give you the boost you need to complete a task in a set time limit. Once you’ve reached your goals, don’t forget to reward yourself.

Don’t Forget to Add Breaks

Now this might sound weird adding breaks while at work. But many people tend to work through tea and lunch breaks, especially when working from home. So make sure you get some time to reset your batteries by adding a couple of breaks to your schedule.

Update Your Planner

Unless your duties stay the same each day, remember to update your planner. Remove tasks you have completed and move duties you have been delaying to the top. This allows you to pay equal attention to all your work.
