Skills Development Levy (SDL)

The Skills Development Levy (SDL) is a crucial aspect of encouraging skills development in South Africa. Employers whose annual payroll exceeds R500,000 are required to pay a levy of 1% of their total payroll to the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Whether you’re looking to obtain your matric certificate for the first time or improve your existing results, we have the right course for you.

Adult Matric Course:

  • Overview: Our Adult Matric Course is tailored for individuals who never had the opportunity to complete their matric. This course prepares you thoroughly for the final matric exam, leading to a Senior Certificate.
  • Entry Requirements: You must be 21 years or older and able to read, write, and understand English or Afrikaans. We do offer the programme in Afrikaans.
  • Subjects: You need to select six subjects, with three compulsory (your home language, an additional language, and maths or maths literacy) and three elective subjects based on your career aspirations.
  • Support: We provide study guides, textbooks, question banks, online exam preparation and past exam papers and solutions. Additionally, our skilled tutors and student support services are available to assist you throughout your studies.
  • Outcome: Successfully passing the exams will earn you a Senior Certificate, equivalent to a traditional matric qualification.

Matric Upgrade Course:

  • Overview: If you already have a matric certificate but wish to improve your marks, our Matric Upgrade Course is ideal. This course allows you to retake specific subjects to achieve higher grades.
  • Entry Requirements: Must have an existing matric certificate.
  • Support: Access to study materials, expert tutors, online exam preparation, question banks, past exam papers and solutions and student support services to help you succeed.
  • Outcome: Better matric results can enhance your eligibility for higher education and improve job prospects.

Matric Equivalent ICB Courses:

  • Overview: Our Matric Equivalent Courses, offered in partnership with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), provide NQF level 4 qualifications that are recognized and valued in various industries. These courses combine matric-level education with specialised business and finance skills.
  • Popular Courses:
    • Senior Bookkeeping: Gain comprehensive bookkeeping skills, including payroll, computerised bookkeeping, and financial statements.
    • Small Business Financial Management: Learn essential skills for managing small business finances, including communication, business management, administration, and finance.
  • Entry Requirements: Generally, a Grade 11 education and the ability to read, write, and understand English.

Do we Offer Life Orientation?

If you’re hoping to study Life Orientation (LO), we have some bad news. We do not offer Life Orientation as a subject due to its practical component. Since your matric results are made up of your final matric exam, you do not have a School-Based Assessment (SBA) with us.
