What you need to know

Entrance Requirements

Anyone can enroll for this short course. All you need is to be able to read and write in English, as well as have an understanding of the language.  

Accreditation

This course is a Provider Programme, which means that the course outline, curriculum and study material was developed by Skills Academy. These courses aim to equip you with the skills needed for the workplace, regardless of whether or not you have matric. 

Assessment Structure

There are no exams for this course, only assessments. These consist of a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which is a combination of more than two assignments and a subject test. The pass mark for these assessments is 50%.

For assessments which require students to do Practicals, students may have to do the practicals and take pictures or screenshots of their work if they are doing them on their PCs and submit for marking.

Subject Description
Introduction to Business English This subject teaches you about the different ways of communicating. It also teaches you reading, writing and listening skills, as well as how to handle meetings and presentations. Gain more confidence in your writing and speaking abilities with this subject.
Introduction to Computers Get an introduction to computer basics, managing computer components and how to search for content using help. This subject also teaches you how to customise Windows and use the internet. As a PC repair technician, it's essential that you know as much as possible about how a computer operates and functions.
Anatomy and Physiology A+ Essential 220-801 Learn all about the different hardware components that a computer needs to function. This subject also teaches you how to troubleshoot issues and do installations and upgrades. These aspects are important if you want to a successful computer repair technician.
