What you need to know

Entrance Requirements

You don’t need matric to enrol for this course. This course was designed to help those who never finished or went to school get the job of their dreams. All that’s required from you is that you have a basic understanding of English. This will help you understand your study material since this course is in English.

Accreditation

This is a non-accredited course that still holds a lot of value. For starters, you will have access to excellent tutors and study material. After completion, you will receive a certificate issued by Skills Academy. You may use this and the skills you need to enter the workplace.

Assessment Structure

There are no exams scheduled for this course. Students need to complete assignments, hand in a Portfolio of Evidence(PoE), and complete subject tests. You need to achieve a 50% mark on your assignment to pass. Students who failed to receive more than 50% for their assignments may apply to redo it. No extra costs.

Subject Description
Introduction to Business English Become more confident in your English language ability. Business English is not the same as everyday English. This subject teaches you how to speak in a professional manner. You will learn how to write emails, business letters, and how to communicate with your colleagues.
Anatomy and Physiology With this subject you will learn more about the human body and anatomy. Discover each function of the human body to aid you in your professional career as a Nail Technician. You will learn about the nervous system, skin, hair, nails and more.
Professional Salon Skills Alway conduct yourself in a professional manner. This subject also teaches you the basics of hygiene to help you maintain a clean and safe work salon. It deals with topics such as how to prepare yourself for a consultation, and how to build a relationship with a client.
Nail Technology This subject will expand your knowledge regarding all things nails. First you will learn about the history of nail care, and learn about the anatomy of the hand and foot. Learn about the tools needed to conduct a manicure and pedicure, and how to apply nail varnish.
Excellence in Service: Basic As a nail technician, you will be part of the service industry. Learn how to interact with clients in a professional manner. This subject will help you improve your service based on customer feedback, and increase customer service as a result.
UV Gel nails, acrylic nails, fiberglass nails and Decoration Improve your knowledge on nails and nail applications. This subject covers the theory elements you can put into practice on topics such as UV gel nails, acrylic nails and how to decorate nails, and more. There are three assessments scheduled for this subject to test your knowledge.
