Entrance Requirements
Accreditation
This course is a Provider Programme, which means that the course outline, curriculum and study material was developed by Skills Academy. These courses aim to equip you with the skills needed for the workplace, regardless of whether or not you have matric.
Assessment Structure
There are no exams for this course, only assessments. These consist of a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which is a combination of more than two assignments and a subject test. The pass mark for these assessments is 50%.
For assessments which require students to do Practicals, students may have to do the practicals and take pictures or screenshots of their work if they are doing them on their PCs and submit for marking.

The Medical-Legal Implications and Principles of First Aid | Every human being has the right to life and duty of care. That means, you should help wherever you can to save a life. This subject will teach you about the things you can do to help save a life, as well as the legal aspects of first aid. This is important as it ensures that the person who is administering first aid doesn't get into any legal trouble after the incident has taken place. |
Elementary Human Anatomical Structures | As the name implies, this subject will teach you about the organ systems and the anatomy of the body. Each part of the body has a function, it is important for you to know how the body works when practicing first aid. This allows you to provide the best possible care when assisting someone who has been injured. |
Appropriate First Aid Procedures | This subject will help you assist an injured or ill person before medical assistance arrives. It will prepare you for multiple scenarios, including what to do when a sick or injured person is bleeding, not breathing, etc. This is important to know as it can determine whether a person lives or dies. |
