The next one is the Professional Qualification. It is for those who already have relevant qualifications. This course has 3 levels of progression.
CIMA Operational Certificate Course
This is the first level. It focuses on how to make and implement short term plans. You’ll write 3 tests and one case study exam.
CIMA Managerial Level Course
This second level course focuses on changing long-term development plans into medium term plans. It teaches students how to monitor and manage performance, allocate resources and read financial statements. It has three tests and one case study exam.
CIMA Strategic Level Course
This is the last level and also consists of 3 tests and one case study exam. This teaches you how to manage and evaluate risks and find financial resources needed.
CIMA Entry Requirements
For the Cert BA there are no entry requirements. You just need to have a good understanding of the English language. To be able to enrol in the Professional Qualification, you’ll need to have another relevant qualification. Just left school or have no relevant qualifications? Then start with the Cert BA and work your way up!
The Difference Between CIMA, CA and ACCA
CA ( Chartered Accountant) is a South African accounting qualification. To be a CA, your programme of study needs to be accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and CA share the same responsibilities. Their only difference is that CA is local and ACCA is international.
The main difference between the three is auditing. While both CA and ACCA have auditing, CIMA does not.
