Study Further

Whether you’re looking to study educare, marketing or become a doctor, most accredited courses require you to have a matric certificate

More Career Opportunities

When you pass your adult matric, you’ll have access to job opportunities that are more suited to your interests and career goals.

Boost Your CV

You might have years of experience in your field, but if your CV doesn’t mention matric, it can be difficult to find a job somewhere else or get promoted.

How Long Does it Take to get Your Adult Matric?

Getting your adult matric can take between 1 – 3 years. This depends on how quickly you get through the course. But there’s no need to rush. With us, you can study at your own pace.

Adult Matric Exams

Your final exam is the highlight of your adult matric journey. So to avoid missing out, it’s important to note that these exams take place at a different time than the NSC exams. Your adult matric exam is written during May/June each year.

What do I Need to Pass Matric?

There are three main pass requirements based on the marks you received. These range from a higher certificate pass and diploma pass to a bachelor’s pass. The better your marks, the higher your pass.

We’re sure you don’t just want to pass matric, but you want to pass it well and add real value to your matric certificate. But for now, here are the minimum requirements:

To pass matric, you will need to:

  • Get at least 40% in your Home Language
  • Obtain at least 40% in two other subjects
  • Get at least 30% in four other subjects

You need to pass a minimum of five subjects. After passing your matric, you will be awarded with an Amended Senior Certificate from Umalusi.

Calculating Your Matric Results

Matriculants in school will have a combined final mark consisting of their final exam and their school-based assessments (SBA). As an adult student, your final mark is made up of only your  matric exam results.

How do the Classes Work?

Good news! When you study with us, you don’t need to attend any classes! We are a distance learning college, which means you can study from the comfort of your home. It’s the perfect choice for working students. There’s no need to rush to any classes after a busy day at work or taking care of a family.

How to Choose Your Subjects

To register for matric, you need to have six subjects. Three are compulsory and three will be your choice. This is a very important part of deciding to get your matric. Your subject choice should be based on your future career. If you’re still confused, you can speak to our course experts who will give you advice with your goals and dreams in mind.

Please note: Your compulsory subjects include your home language, an additional language and maths or maths literacy. We do not offer Life Orientation because of its practical component.
