Requirements to Combine Your Matric Results
As easy as it may sound, you need to meet the requirements before combining your matric results. But don’t stress, they’re quite straightforward. To qualify, you will need to:
- Pass at least five of your six subjects
- Get more than 20% for a failed a subject you want to combine
Applying for Combination of Matric Results
Now it’s on to the next step, which is to apply to combine your results. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) won’t automatically do it for you. You need to apply for a replacement certificate to change the status of your results unless you wrote your supplementary exam.
How Much Does it Cost to Combine Your Results?
The cost of combining your results and getting a replacement certificate cost R164. You need to pay an additional R52 if you would like to receive a statement of your results. These fees apply from the 1st of April 2023 and remain in effect until the 31st of March 2024.

To apply online, you need to register on the e-Government portal. Once you’re done, submit all your documents online. Make sure to have PDF copies stored on your phone or laptop.
Nearest Education Office
Don’t want to apply online? Then head down to your nearest education district office and submit your documents. Be sure to contact them ahead of time to find out if they are able to help you.
Does Combination of Matric Results Apply to Every Subject?
Well, not quite. Your Adult Matric exam results make up 100% of your final mark. So if you would like to combine subjects with a practical component, you won’t be able to merge those results.
