What CIMA Exemptions can I get?
Knowing what exemptions you can get would depend on your course. See, every course has its own set of subjects. Therefore, you will have different exemptions allocated to them.
Are CIMA Exemptions Free?
When talking about exemptions, you have to think about the fees involved. Now not only will you be paying for an exemption but you will also need to pay for registration. This means that you will have two fees to think about. Once you know what your registration fee is you can speak to a course expert about your exemption fees.

Can I get an Exemption?
Before applying for an exemption, you should know if you qualify for one. You can do this by going through the checklist below:
- Are you a graduate with a qualification on the CIMA database?
- Do you have an MBA or a Masters in Accounting?
- Have you studied or have completed a relevant qualification with another professional body?
- Are you a student or member of the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT)?
Applying for an Exemption
When applying for an exemption, you will notice that there are a few steps to follow. Each step is very important to ensure that you go through the application process correctly.
Register With CIMA
You can only apply for an exemption once you are a registered CIMA student. Registering will only take around five minutes to complete. Simply follow the steps or contact a CIMA representative.
Find a Qualification
Once you have completed the registration process, you can go on to find your qualification. You do this by searching for it on the CIMA database. Now if you can’t find your qualification there, you can find it in an alternative way.
Send Your Documents
As you may know, documentation plays an important part to any type of registration. The documents that you will need include:
- Copies of your highest level of educational certificates and transcripts.
- A copy of your contact ID
Once you have all your documents compiled and ready to send off, you can forward them to: [email protected] and if you have trouble or questions you can contact CIMA directly.
Wait for Confirmation
After sending your documents you will receive a confirmation email from CIMA within 72 hours. This confirmation will only state that your documentation has been received. Confirmation on your exemption will take around 20 working days.
Accept or Decline Your Exemption
Once your paperwork has been reviewed, you will have a choice between accepting or declining your exemption. If you choose to accept it means that you are familiar with the materials needed for the exams. Remember it’s your second chance and you wouldn’t want to take it for granted.
You also have the opportunity to decline your exemption acceptance. If you choose to go with this route, you will have to do it within eight weeks. Giving you enough time to think about your decision.
