What you need to know

Entrance Requirements

Don’t have matric? You can still further your education with Skills Academy. This is an open access course, and you won’t be assessed on the marks you received in school. That’s not needed. All that’s required from you is that you have a basic understanding of English. This will help you understand your coursework in order to pass.

Accreditation

This is a non-accredited course that still holds a lot of value.After completion, you will receive a certificate issued by Skills Academy. The skills you will learn will make you workplace ready.

Assessment Structure

There are no examinations scheduled for this course. Nail Care students need to complete assignments, hand in a Portfolio of Evidence(PoE), and complete subject tests. To pass the subject, you need to achieve a 50% mark on your assignment. If you don’t get more than 50% on your assignments, you may apply to redo your assignment - no extra costs involved.

Subject Description
Introduction to Business English Become more confident in your English language ability. Business English is not the same as everyday English. This subject teaches you how to speak in a professional manner. You will learn how to write emails, business letters, and how to communicate with your colleagues.
Anatomy and Physiology With this subject you will learn more about the human body and anatomy. Discover each function of the human body to aid you in your professional career as a Nail Technician. You will learn about the nervous system, skin, hair, nails and more.
Professional Salon Skills Alway conduct yourself in a professional manner. This subject also teaches you the basics of hygiene to help you maintain a clean and safe work salon. It deals with topics such as how to prepare yourself for a consultation, and how to build a relationship with a client.
Nail Technology This subject will expand your knowledge regarding all things nails. First you will learn about the history of nail care, and learn about the anatomy of the hand and foot. Learn about the tools needed to conduct a manicure and pedicure, and how to apply nail varnish.

Study Upgrade

What is not included in the fees?

We do not include writing materials or envelopes for you to send your assignments to us.

However, you can upload your assignments here through our Learner Portal, and cut out the price of envelopes out as well!
